Not a lot of golf courses possess the history to have stood the test of time. The Westlock Golf Club is one of those courses.
We first opened our doors in 1935 as a 7-hole golf course. As time passed the course underwent improvements to become a 9-hole golf course mostly made up of 300 yard par 4’s. The next major renovation took place in 1977. Alan Watt, a local physician with considerable knowledge and understanding of changes happening in the game redesigned the front 9 by building grass greens and lengthening many of the holes. In 1991 we added a second nine that offers the feeling of a more open links style course while preserving the challenge of a traditional style golf course.
The back nine is a Les Furber design and it is easy to see by playing the course why he is one of the most sought after designers in the golfing community. Most recently Dr. Watt has undertaken the challenge of turning our par 4 ninth hole into a unique par 5, which has made the Westlock Golf Club a par 72 challenge like no other. The new hole opened in August, 2007.
The changes that we have endured over the years have produced one of the most beautiful places to spend a day of golf. We are constantly making small improvements that add to the already remarkable backdrop that is the Westlock Golf Club.
